The objective of the Pharmacy Technician program is to prepare the graduate for an entry-level position in a pharmacy setting. Pharmacy technicians work under the supervision of licensed pharmacists to perform technical and clerical duties in the systematic operation of the pharmacy. Graduates will be prepared to work in retail and community pharmacies, hospital and health care affiliated pharmacies or mail-order pharmacies. Pharmacy technicians practice under the legal umbrella of the pharmacist license, therefore all technician activities are the responsibility of the pharmacist. In addition, this program aims to develop the student into a well-rounded individual through its general education component.

The objective of the Practical Nursing program is to prepare the graduate for employment as a practical nurse. Graduates of this program are eligible to take the state licensure examination to practice as a licensed practical nurse (LPN). Licensure is required for employment as a practical nurse. The content includes theoretical instruction and clinical experience in medical, surgical, obstetric, pediatric and geriatric nursing in both acute and long term care situations; personal family and community health concepts; nutrition; human growth and development over the life span; body structure and function; interpersonal relationship skills; mental health concepts; pharmacology and administration of medications; legal aspects of practice; and current issues in nursing. The program includes CPR, HIV and infection control. Fifty percent of the program is comprised of clinical experience in a health care setting.
